- Clean
fans and motors at least every six months (possibly more often
if pets dwell near the pellet stove) A vaccum or canned air
can be used for general cleansing while a dry tooth brush can
be used to dislodge the debris.
- Use
the right pellet fuel. Avoid using an inferior grade pellet
fuel and avoid exposure to moisture by storing your fuel in
a dry, covered area. Also note that Pellet Stove Owners who
purchase one or more tons of pellet fuel, can have their excess
fuel stored at Alaska Hearth Products for free.
- Replacement
of worn gaskets. Inevitably, door gaskets will receive normal
wear and tear and will ultimately need replacing. A good way
to guage this is by inserting a piece of paper in between the
door and frame. If it slides out easily with a light tug, then
it's time to have them replaced. You can contact a service representative
from Alaska Hearth Products to come out and replace them.
- Schedule
an annual or semi-annual stove & chimney servicing during
summer months, so that you'll be ready when the cold season
arrives. You can schedule a servicing by contacting
a helpful representative at Alaska Hearth Products.
- There
is a special glass cleaner used for cleaning wood, gas, pellet
and oil stoves to make the cleaning easier. Please do not mistaken
this as Windex or other ammonia window cleaners. Call Alaska
Hearth Products to find out which glass cleaner is best for
your particular stove.
